A family story

Everything starts in 1937, the year in which Camille Camallonga, Yvonne Foucard’s father, buys the property of Château Chêne-Vieux.

The house was constructed by Louis Simonnet in 1902. Mayor of the town, it is thanks to his support that the vineyard of Puisseguin Saint-Emilion is gifted with a Protected Designation of Origin since 1936.

Camille Camallonga then takes over the holding, which at that stage has only 6 planted hectares. He is a winegrower and wine merchant, settled in Algeria where he already vinifies 300 hectares in the region of Oran.

After his death in 1958, his daughter Yvonne inherits the property. Born in 1923, Yvonne Camallonga grows up living between the wineries around Oran and the Château Chêne-Vieux. In 1948 she gets married to a young lawyer: Henri Foucard, who will work next to his father-in-law in Algeria. Together they have two sons, Michel and Jean-Yves.

In 1963, after they came back to France, Yvonne and Henri acquire the Château de Musset, at Lalande de Pomerol. At the time, only 7 hectares are planted.

In 1981, Michel, medical doctor, and Jean-Yves, graduated from HEC, are incorporated in the management of the holding and SCE Y.Foucard & fils is created

In 1988, they take the leadership together. During the same year, a new operations manager, Vincent, is hired for both properties which cover 11 hectares in the designation of Puisseguin Saint-Emilion and 28 hectares in the designation of Lalande de Pomerol. The collaboration with Vincent has been going on for more than 30 years…
